Wide Angle Swan

I must admit that I was hoping this months Image of the Month would be a Humpback Whale breaching near the wonderful village of Collieston. However the Whales did not perform so it is a Swan photographed laying on the ground at a local park whilst my 3 year old son played on my head.

Laying on the ground gives a nice low angle, defuse foreground and backgound and makes many animals less worried about your presence. However it does have its problems. Firstly the concentration needed for photoghraphy means you can be less aware of what is going away from the veiw finder, this state of consentration can be disturbed when a over enthusiastic Black Lab starts licking your ear. Another is when someone starts trying to give you CPR.

This shot was taken with a short zoom lens set for 24mm.
